WHY DOES YOUR DOG DO WHAT HE DOES?
Ginger is owned and loved by A'ndrea Winn
Everything your dog does is based on his heritage, genes, how he was treated before you brought  him home, how you introduced him into your home and life and how he interprets this communication.. If you don't communicate with him, then he will not develop into the kind of furry child you want him to be. Communicating and understanding the psychology behind your dog is imperitive if you want to succeed with your dog. We as dog lovers and owners need to understand what he is trying to say and speak to him with words and actions that he can understand. This is a life long project. There is NO substitute for mutual understanding. Simply, it translates into the ability to teach and to learn from each other.

Socialization:

One of the MOST important things you can do to help your puppy is to socialize it.  Make sure it meets lots of friendly people and dogs. This will help to avoid dog aggression /people aggression later on. Once your dog has all it's vaccinations take him/her with you  whenever possible and invite people to pet it. There is a proper way to introduce  your pup to people and strange dogs, please contact an instructor to give you advice on this.  Puppy class is one of the best ways, because of the controlled environment.

GROOMING:
Start your dogs grooming routine early. Your dog needs to get use to going to the groomers at an early age, so that he is not frightened and does not develop bad habits.
   Here at CustomCanine
We only take two dogs per day. That way they are not spending time in a cage.  We do not "cage dry" .  Everything is done on a dog by dog basis. We receive the dog in, groom it and either take him home or call you to let you know your dog is ready for you to pick up.  I believe this is much less traumatic on your dog. He is not sitting in a cage listening to 10 other dogs bark etc., nor is he "forgotten". YES! We can pick up and deliver your dog for you.

You may be tempted to purchase a very young puppy.  A reputable breeder will not sell and allow you to take their puppy before it is old enough to have at least one parvo/dhlp shot.  Your puppy should also have been wormed before he is released into your care.

If you take a very young puppy, you may have "social" issues due to his leaving his littermates too early. Health problems he can transmit to your other pets if you have them.

You will have your new friend a very long time, isn't it worth while to be patient and "wait" until he is old enough to make the transition from his old home to your home with the least amount of stress for both of you?
